Cutz Mapz ("we," "us," or "the platform") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use and share it, and your rights regarding your data when you use cutzmapz.com and related services.
By using Cutz Mapz, you agree to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the platform.
2. Information we collect
We collect the following types of information when you use Cutz Mapz:
Account information. When you register, we collect your name, email address, phone number, and Google profile information (if you sign in with Google). This information is used to create and manage your account.
Barber profile information. If you are a barber, we collect additional information including your bio, specialties, portfolio photos, shop name, shop location and address, services offered, and pricing. This information is displayed publicly on your map profile to help customers find and evaluate your services.
Customer information. If you are a customer, we collect your name and email address. If you save a payment method, Square securely tokenizes your card information. We store the Square payment token associated with your account but never store your full credit card number, CVV, or other sensitive card details on our servers.
Location data. We collect geolocation data from your device (with your permission) to show nearby barbers on the map. For barbers, we collect and store verified shop addresses for map placement. We use Mapbox for map rendering and geocoding.
Usage data. We automatically collect information about how you interact with the platform, including pages visited, features used, search queries, device type, browser type, operating system, IP address, and timestamps. This data helps us improve the platform experience.
Communications. We collect the content of direct messages exchanged between users on the platform, including deal card messages containing service descriptions and pricing offers. Messages are stored to provide the messaging feature and may be reviewed for safety and policy enforcement.
Reviews and ratings. We collect reviews, ratings, and associated content (including service type information) that you submit about barbers. Reviews are displayed publicly on barber profiles.
Verification data. When you verify your account via email or SMS, we process verification codes through Twilio. We store the verification status of your account but do not permanently retain the verification codes themselves.
3. How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and operate the service — display barber profiles on the map, enable bookings, facilitate messaging, and deliver core platform features
- Process payments — facilitate barber membership billing and customer-to-barber service payments through Square
- Send verification codes — deliver SMS and email verification codes through Twilio to confirm your identity during registration
- Send booking confirmations and reminders — notify you about upcoming appointments, booking changes, and related updates
- Display barber profiles — show barber information, locations, services, portfolio photos, and pricing on the live map for customer discovery
- Show reviews and ratings — display customer reviews and ratings on barber profiles to help other customers make informed decisions
- Provide customer support — respond to inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and assist with account-related requests
- Analytics and service improvement — analyze usage patterns, identify areas for improvement, and develop new features to enhance the platform
- Fraud prevention and safety — detect and prevent fraudulent activity, abuse, security threats, and violations of our Terms of Service
4. How we share your information
We share your information with the following third-party service providers who help us operate the platform:
- Square — processes all payments on the platform, including barber membership fees and customer-to-barber service payments. Square receives payment information necessary to complete transactions and is PCI DSS compliant.
- Twilio — delivers SMS and email verification codes during account registration and verification. Twilio receives your phone number or email address to send these messages.
- Google — provides authentication services for Google sign-in and Google Places API for shop data enrichment. When you sign in with Google, we receive basic profile information from your Google account.
- Mapbox — provides map rendering, geocoding, and address search functionality. Mapbox receives location data necessary to display maps and resolve addresses.
- Google Places API — provides shop information including names, addresses, hours, photos, and reviews to enrich barber shop listings on the platform.
- Yelp — provides business ratings and review counts for shop listings. We retrieve data from Yelp but do not share your personal user data with Yelp.
- Law enforcement — we may disclose your information if required to do so by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Cutz Mapz, our users, or the public.
We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We never have and never will.
5. Data security
We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement industry-standard measures to protect it, including:
- Data encryption in transit (TLS/SSL) and at rest
- Secure token-based payment storage through Square (we never store raw card data)
- Square's PCI DSS Level 1 compliance for all payment processing
- Access controls and authentication for administrative systems
- Regular security reviews and monitoring
While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security but are committed to promptly addressing any security incidents.
6. Data retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. Specifically:
- Account data — retained for the duration of your account and for a reasonable period after deletion to comply with legal obligations
- Payment records — retained as required by tax and financial regulations (typically 7 years)
- Messages — retained while your account is active and deleted upon account deletion
- Reviews — may be retained in anonymized form after account deletion to maintain platform integrity
- Usage data — retained in aggregated, anonymized form for analytics purposes

7. Your rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access — you may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Update — you may update or correct your account information at any time through your profile settings
- Delete — you may request deletion of your account and personal data, subject to legal retention requirements
- Opt out of marketing — you may opt out of promotional emails and notifications at any time by adjusting your notification preferences or using the unsubscribe link in our emails
- Data portability — you may request a machine-readable copy of your personal data

Cutz Mapz uses minimal, essential cookies only. We use cookies and local storage to:

9. Children's privacy
Cutz Mapz is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will take steps to delete that information as promptly as possible.

11. California residents (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA):
- Right to know — you have the right to request information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources of that information, the business purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it
- Right to delete — you have the right to request deletion of your personal information, subject to certain exceptions provided by law
- Right to opt out of sale — we do not sell your personal information. We have never sold personal information and have no plans to do so. You do not need to submit an opt-out request because no sale occurs
- Right to non-discrimination — we will not discriminate against you for exercising your CCPA rights
